Should we go West or Should we go East? 2 1/2 months with my Chilean girlfriend here in the U.S., we leave in a week from East Texas. West Coast, East Coast, or do you think we could hit both?
I'm having such a hard time making this decision, any help is appreciated. I just need to (for now) figure out whether to start out heading east or west. I also need to determine if it's realistic for us to plan on getting to both coasts in the amount of time she has (she has to go back to Chile March 20th). We're staying with my parents over the holidays then we leave. We're starting out in Longview, Texas (it's in the northeast of the state).
I feel like we have three options:
Everywhere
We hit both coasts by heading towards one and then crossing the midwest to the other, stopping in Chicago and maybe Yellowstone (yeah, in winter, oh and we're in a 2016 Honda Civic) along the way. I'm doubtful we'll have time for this, but I don't know, I've never done this before.
East
We go to New Orleans, Orlando, maybe Miami, then up the east coast stopping at points of interest along the way. She really wants to see NYC and so do I (also Boston and the southern portions of New Hampshire and Vermont). Maybe it ends there or maybe we make it to Chicago, I don't know.
West
We go to Dallas, swing down to Austin, then head west towards L.A., stopping wherever's interesting in West Texas and definitely the Grand Canyon, maybe Phoenix/Scottsdale (I dunno, heard it's cool), then going up the west coast, stopping in L.A. , San Francisco, the parks in northern California, then maybe to Seattle. Maybe it ends there or maybe we can go to Yellowstone and Chicago.
Help?
