First time traveling with a group since I’ve been on my first solo trip this past summer
Earlier this year I went on my first solo trip to a few countries in Europe. I absolutely loved it. The complete freedom and liberating feeling of being able to just go anywhere at a moments notice. I will admit though at first it was difficult being completely alone and trying to meet others (other solo travelers or locals) as I’m a bit socially anxious. But I slowly was able to get over it and met a couple other people.
I just went on what was suppose to be along month trip, with 3 other friends, but I decided to leave 2 weeks early cause it was just absolutely fucking terrible. I really don’t want to get into the details but I was a fuckin idiot always depending on them to go somewhere and didn’t go off on my own. And making any sort of decision was fucking insane cause it ALWAYS boiled down to
“Uhhhh idk.. I don’t care”. We would stand around like dumbasses just gazing off around us.
Then we would go back to the damn hotel.
I mean it literally took me 40 minutes to convince my friends to go snowmobiling... something that none of us has done before and had no excuse to not do it since we are all somewhat financially stable.
But this has been an eye opener for me. I grew up basically by myself (I had an unorthodox childhood.) and became afraid of always doing things by myself so I would always need someone with me to do something.
I can’t keep doing that anymore. If keep doing that then I will always wait on people and miss a lot of opportunities. Such as this trip. There was so much I could of explored and experienced. But no my insecurities got the best of me.
So now I made a vow to myself to start learning how to do things alone. Either being learning a new skill or traveling somewhere (I’ll travel with one other person. That’s it.)
Reading about everyone’s solo travels the last couple days gave me hope so thank you all for that.
This got a bit out of topic so sorry for that. I just needed to rant about my current travels.
