First time México City!
Hello everyone! I’ve spent some time solo traveling through Canada and spent a month volunteering in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I’m in a comfortable financial place now to actually book my next trip which I have planned for a while on being a week in Mexico City. So far I like the Stayinn Barefoot Condesa hostel, right next to Chapultepec - it seems like a good place to meet people before going out both day and night. I’m a big history and art buff and plan on hitting some of the museums Mexico City is famous for. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on markets in CDMX that aren’t touristy but are still a good time to explore. Additionally, any recommendations for food in the Condesa/Roma area would be spectacular. I’m not new to Mexico but haven’t been to CDMX yet so any tips would be greatly appreciated! Definitely looking for more neighborhoods to explore as most of what I’ve found online just talks about the hip Condesa and Roma. I’m looking forward to walking through Chapultepec, digging streets of Condesa and Roma and other neighborhoods, enjoying the architecture, meeting fellow travelers, hitting museums, going out at night (nothing too crazy!) and hopefully, if CDMX is anything like my time in Puerto Vallarta, making some local friends :). I know the weather is low 50’s to 70’s but I’m not entirely too sure what months I plan on going - i may decide on a whim to leave in January or I may plan for February or March. I plan on bringing 2,000 USD for my week there not including housing and flights. Any and all recommendations and anecdotes would be greatly appreciated!
