Experienced traveller: Debating cancelling my trip to Colombia.
I've got a two-week solo trip to Colombia booked for April 2019, and am debating whether to skip it.
I've travelled solo to around 40 countries, including Peru and Mexico, and I was planning on taking more Spanish lessons beforehand, but I feel so torn on whether to go. The flights were fairly cheap (£400 return from London) so it's not a huge amount to lose. I feel like a trip that should be a breeze, is now making me panicked and unexcited.
I was thinking of visiting Bogota (flying into here), Medellin, Guatape, Jardin, Salento and Cartagena or Barichara/Villa de Leyva.
I feel like I've lost my fearlessness a little while travelling - I'm concerned about safety, bed bugs in hostels (I've experienced them twice - including last month - both in good, upmarket hostels, and after checking the bed carefully. I suffer super bad reactions when bitten by them, so I'm terrified of experiencing them again), travelling between the cities, and not clicking with the other travellers, being sexually assaulted - and the whole trip being an anxiety-ridden let-down.
Have any of you experienced travellers ever suddenly felt scared/put off at the idea of a trip? I'm concerned I'll regret not going if I cancel.
Note: I booked Colombia as I love colonial cities, Latin vibes, horse riding, beautiful scenery, and arepas. It was somewhere I'd researched before, and read loads of travel blogs on.
