I'm slowly planning my trip for next spring (Planning on leaving around mid April as long as we don't get snowed in here in MN...) and realized that a lot of campground or hotels that are popular (for example Yellowstone) you have to book in advance.

When I go on this road trip, I won't have a strict agenda and time is not a problem so not sure how long I will stay in one place. Did you ever have trouble booking accommodation at a location and not being able to make it because the place you are currently staying in at is just too beautiful, fun, etc. to leave sooner? What did you do? I'm planning on 3+ days at any location I stop... is this a good estimate to go by when booking for accommodations at Yellowstone (or any other place?) Thanks!
