Question about Byway 12 in Utah
Hello! I’m moving from Southern California to New York in a few days, and I’m driving cross-country. The first leg of my journey is to Zion NP (please send all hikes my way that are relatively easy and don’t take too long, as I’ll only have a couple of hours there).
From there, I’m heading to Hotchkiss, CO (which is in western Colorado, near Grand Junction) the next day. The route I’ve been given says it’ll take about 6 hours from where I’m staying just north of Zion - easy! But a good friend of mine just did this same drive last week and told me to take byway 12 in Utah because it’s amazing. I really want to do this but I’m also going to be anxious to get to Hotchkiss, as I’m visiting someone there that I am very ready to see. How much time will taking byway 12 add? And is it really that worth it? I don’t mind adding an extra hour or even two because I’ll be leaving around 6 am, but I want to hear more information about it.
