How should I explore Split, Croatia?
Hi all! I love this sub because the few times I've posted here, I always get good advice and/or experiences from people!
So my solo trip this year is to Croatia. I'm doing 2 days in Zagreb (as I'm flying in to there) and then I'm going to take a bus to Split and spend 5 days there until I fly to Amsterdam (where I'm meeting a friend, so not solo).
I've been spending the whole afternoon looking at hostels in Split and they look either pretty unenticing or are really far from the city and expensive (I'm going in August so I do expect a price surge but still..)
My hostel requirements are pretty simple: I don't need breakfast or fancy stuff but I really hate those metal-framed beds because they just make sooo much noise. So any hostel with those is immediately out.
So here is my question - should I hop around from island to island? OR just suck it up and book one hostel and do day trips? If I wanna do the island thing - where should I be looking at?
Any opinions/advice and just general Croatian information would be very much appreciated! Also, if you have a favourite bus company to recommend!
