Road tripping from Central Illinois to Seattle in a month, where should I stop along the way to get the most out of the experience?
I have a good friend who lives in Seattle who invited me to visit him and his wife this summer. I decided to take him up on the offer and will be driving there in about a month (June 8th is when I'm going to reach Seattle)
It's a 30 hour drive from where I live in Illinois to Seattle, and that's assuming there's no construction, slowdown, etc. It'll take me a little longer though, because I want to get the most out of driving through that part of America (I've never been that way). According to Google Maps, the states that I'll be passing through are Iowa, South Dakota, Montana, and Washington (possibly Wyoming too?)
The first thing I thought of (and what my buddy mentioned) is stopping at Mount Rushmore. Beyond that, I'm not sure where I should stop for sightseeing
Any suggestions are appreciated, as are suggestions on which towns I should stay at overnight (I have no problem staying AirBnB, if that helps). I'm really looking forward to this trip
