Road tripping across the south with children
My family has lots of experience with road trips along the east coast, but we've never gone out west before. This summer we are driving from NC to Vegas and Disneyland, stopping through Houston along the way. How easy is it to get hotels off the highway? Are they in general safe, assuming we stick to chains we know and populated exits? This is how it is where we're used to, but I get the impression that out west things are more spread out.
