Planning my first trip to Central/South America! F 26
Hey friends! I’m looking into planning a trip to Central/South America for January. I’d like to save over the summer and working during my last little bit of school. My plan is to either fly into Mexico City or Cancun and then travel south. I do have a couple of questions about planning and where to keep money! I’m looking to start in either Cancun or Mexico City! Anyone have any recommendations?

Where should I keep my money? I know I’m supposed to have emergency money but should that be on a debit/credit card? Should I carry any money on me at all?

When booking hostels should I book everything at once or should I just book as I go?

What kind bag should take when I’m walking around the city? I’ve seen suggestions of backpacks to cross body bags!

In terms of booking flights I heard Tuesday’s are cheaper for some reason? How true is that?

When booking a flight home would I just do that from my phone?

How does travel insurance work? Again, I know there’s a lot of questions but I’m really kind of clueless when it comes to planning a solo trip. I’ve been doing a lot of research and I read so many things so I’m stumped haha.
