Moving from New England to Silicon Valley, towing a 5x8 enclosed trailer, here's my itinerary
day 1 ten hour drive from my home in central MA to somewhere in north carolina, hotel stay night
day 2 ten hour drive from NC to a friend down in central florida, crash at their place on the beach
day 3 hang out in paradise for a day, or at least highly priced FL paradise
day 4 ten hour drive from there to friends in southen mississippi, crash there overnight
day 5 hanging out with friends in southern MS
day 6: nine hour drive from southern MS to austin texas, stay at a hotel and wander around a bit, always liked austin but I've never been there
day 7: eleven hour drive from austin to some place in new mexico, hotel night
day 8: four hour drive from that place in new mexico to my older brother and his wife who live in phoenix AZ, meet with them for the day and stay the night
day 9 REALLY want to visit meteor crater, haven't done it in a long time, it's a 5.5 hour round trip from phoenix, stay the night at my brother's place
day 10: eleven hour drive from phoenix to the bay area, stay at a hotel that night
day 11 move into my new place, drop off the uhaul trailer
4323 miles, 6 hotel stays
i'll be hauling a 5x8 enclosed trailer behind my 2003 bmw 540i wagon, along with a 16 cubic feet cargo box on the roof, i'm going all out. Planning to drive dawn till dusk, avoiding night driving whenever possible. Lots and lots of audio books. Keeping a cooler in the car stocked with healthy snacks like fruits and veggies, sandwiches, etc
I'd love to stop by all kinds of places BUT i'm pretty limited on time, since i need to give my two weeks at my current job, make this trip, and have a few days spare in my new location to get settled in before i start my job.
got any other tips or wisdom for this guy who's never really done a road trip solo yet?
