I know in Europe you may be entitled to compensation for flight delays - are there any laws/regulations in the US that are similar?
Hi SoloTravel,
First I apologize if there is a better sub to post in or if this is a frequent question - I’m beyond exhausted and feel pretty ill, and on a bit of a time crunch.
A TL;DR of my situation - I had a flight to Denver last night that ended up being delayed five hours, due to weather and only weather. Takeoff was pushed from 8:15pm to 1:20am. When I arrived at my destination, the tram I usually take to get to/from the airport was not operating for another two hours, so instead of a $9 tram ticket I had to pay $50 for an 18 minute taxi ride to get to my vehicle. HAD to somewhere by 8:30am today and wanted to get at least a bit of sleep.
I did a brief search and only found compensation laws pertaining to Europe - I’m going to call customer service (Southwest) and first and foremost commend everyone involved with the flight/airport I was stuck at, they all did a wonderful job despite the circumstance. But I wanted to know if there are any laws or policy I can use as reference when requesting some type of compensation - figured I may as well try to get something out of it.
Thanks for your time!
