Days and nights alone while solo travelling
Might be a bit of a dumb question, but - I’ve just hit Europe for my first solo trip, and first trip out of my home country (Australia).
I’ve been visiting cities for about 3 or 4 days before moving on, staying in hostels. I usually spend the first couple days exploring and doing the things I wanted to check off the list in whatever locale I’m visiting. I’ll usually head to the hostel bar at night and see if I can meet some new people, go out, and maybe work out some plans for the next day - but this doesn’t always work out. Sometimes I end up calling it a night early, not spending a good deal of time with anyone, and spending the third or fourth day in the city visiting restaurant and bars by myself and feeling a little bit lost.
My question is - those of you who are more experienced at riding solo, do you tend to meet people most nights you try to, and what do you get up to during the days if you’re still rolling around by yourself? I usually feel like I’ve seen quite a bit and try to immerse myself in a new neighbourhood or suburb, but a lot of the time it ends up feeling a bit same-same.
I guess this might be a very normal thing while travelling solo, and I might be putting pressure on every day to be great, but I wanted to know what some others thought.
