Cell Phone Coverage- Cross Country US Trip
Hey r/solotravel! I [23/F] am moving from Boston to San Diego in August and I'm planning my first solo trip driving across the US. I'll be going down I-95 to Savannah, over to Atlanta to see family, then to NOLA and then across Texas. I wanted to go around the southwest and stop at a bunch of National Parks (Arches, Zion, Grand Canyon, Canyonlands, White Sands, etc). However, my parents are very much against my trip because they don't trust me being alone and they are worried that I'll break down somewhere in New Mexico without cell phone service (I have T-Mobile which I know isn't that great outside of cities to begin with) and that someone will try to take advantage of a "young, pretty girl with no protection". So I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to safeguard against breaking down/unexpected difficulties in an area with no reception, or if there's a place I could go to find people who might be doing the same trip as me for driving/hikes.
