Bear questions, help appreciated!

Hello,

I'll be doing a long roadtrip ("vansedandwelling" experience) soon. Plan to do all 50 states, heading for Alaska first. I'll be in quite of bear country. I wasn't sure of the best to post this but, figured I'd start here and see if someone can direct me to a better spot.

Warning some may be dumb, but have yet to find a straight answer:

1.I know I'm not supposed to keep food, scented stuff, toiletries in the car, but are water jugs ok to leave in the car? I plan to carry about 3 gallons at most.

2.Is there any bear spray that is safe to keep inside the car? I watched a video of a bear spray canister going off in a car and would definitely not want to experience that. I do need to carry this bear spray for at least 10-15k miles or entire trip 27k miles. I've been thinking I can put it in a zip lock bag and toss it in my cooler to keep it from temperature swings and moisture.

3.I found out that it's illegal in Yosemite to hang bags, I'm not overnighting here but I figure it may be a thing in other parts of my trip, so I guess I may need to go with a bear container instead? Anyone know if it's commonly illegal to hang bags?

4.I used 3M super 77 to glue a liner to some plywood sheets for my backseat/trunk mod, are bears attracted to these materials? Primarily the piney smell of the wood is my main question.

5.Regarding the bear-muda triangle, I don't plan to cook food, however, I'm eating sandwiches mainly. Should I still have a separate area for food prep? I'm assuming yes, since spills and crumbs can happen, just want to make sure.

6.I found this page that shows many state have restrictions on size, however, I think this is pertaining to regular self-defense pepper spray and not bear spray for animal deterrent, which tends to come in larger amounts, 7-12oz. Another page on the site says "According to pepper spray manufacturers, pepper spray as a personal defense weapon is considered legal in all 50 states, although various state restrictions may prevent shipping to several states." It would be a hassle if I have to be buying a new can every time I enter bear country again throughout my trip.

7.Is there a comprehensive bear country map? I've mostly found images with low res.

8.If pepper spray attracts bears, is it possible the canister may attract bears? Should it be hung with the other stuff at night? This seems like a catch twenty-two.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Edit: Numbered topics.
