Summer in Eastern Europe without securing lodging ahead of time - will it be hard to find once I'm there?
Hi r/solotravel, I'm working on plans to spend a couple months in Europe around July/August. My main targets are Poland and the Balkans, sticking to the major cities and moving by train.
I haven't traveled a whole lot and I only speak English. I'd be looking to settle into a hostel/airbnb/hotel for a couple weeks at a time, but I might only book it a week to a couple days ahead of time. Will I be at great risk of getting stuck with nowhere to stay?
Additional info: My time there would be spent mostly laying low, hanging out in cafes doing some personal work from my laptop, and seeing the city. Spending a little time on nice beaches in Croatia,Albania,etc is really attractive but doing the whole 'summer vacation' thing isn't a priority. I know a few people in Poland and Bulgaria, but I don't want to lean on them too much for a place to stay or assistance. Overall I'm trying to stay flexible, and my daily work can be done anywhere with internet access.
