Recommendations for countries where men aren’t overly flirtatious/aggressive?
Sorry if this is a really ignorant question. I’m a long time lurker and planning my first solo trip as a young woman.
Because of some bad events I won’t get into, I’m extremely suspicious of and nervous around men I don’t know. I’m fine with normal conversations, but if I’m alone and a man becomes flirtatious or forward, I become very anxious. Even quick cat calls are enough to make my mouth go dry and my palms sweat.
I don’t want to let this fear stop me from living my life, but I’m nervous enough about my solo trip and would rather not compound it with that kind of fear. Again, sorry if I sound like an ignorant American who assumes the worst of the world, but I’m just trying to make sure I can actually enjoy my trip.
So, any recommendations for countries where I can enjoy myself relatively unnoticed, or cautions of which countries to avoid? I would love to see Italy but I’ve been warned that men there can be forward with women, and I definitely don’t think India would be a good place for me. Any advice is so helpful!
