Need help with Laos itinerary (riding motorbike)

I'm currently in Cambodia for the past 4 weeks , I'm making my way towards Vietnam at the moment, the plan being to cut into Vietnam (Kon Tum). Then cross into Laos using the border near Xayden in the very South.

My main question is if it's feasible starting from this far south? In terms of things to see and experience. My first stop was going to be Attapeu/Attapu and then just head North from there over the following 2 to 3 weeks. I don't like to have a set itinerary I like to just plan as I go, as long as there is a bed to sleep, food and fuel for the bike I don't mind.

But if it's a case of majority of all the cool stuff being in the North maybe I should rethink my approach.

Any and all advice is much appreciated :)
