[Itinerary] Two weeks in Colombia
Hi all
I'm planning a trip to Colombia from May 12-26th. The only thing I have booked so far (other than my accomodation for CDMX on the way back - long layover) is the round trip to Bogota. There's so much to this country that I'm simply overwhelmed, but I've pieced together a tentative itinerary below and I'm open to any suggestions, no matter how big. The only stipulation I guess is that I have to fit all this betweeen the afternoon of May 12th and May 25th, since I'm flying out of Bogota the next day at 2:30.
May 12 - Fly into Bogota arriving at 1:15 PM - I figure this means that I'll be in Chapinero by ~3PM. Nap, probably hit up Parque 93 or stay in the area for dinner/drinks - I'm not a dancer, prefer live music. Turn in early.
May 13 - Visit Cerro Monserrate, Quinta de Bolivar, and the Gold Museum. Join the 2 PM walking tour of La Candelaria or just explore on my own. Not sure what to do with my evening.
May 14 - Day trip to Zipaquira and possibly Guatavita; fly to Armenia and transfer to a hostel in Salento in the evening
May 15 to 18 - Hiking in Valle de Corcora, take a finca tour, explore Salento and the surrounding region
May 18 to 21 - Transfer to Medellin, take the Real City Walking Tour and the Toucan Cafe's Graffiti tour. A bit of time in Parque Arvi and a night out in the Parque de la Periodistas (seems more my scene than Parque Lleras, but I'm not sure about its safety). Day trip to Guatape
May 21 - Transfer to Santa Marta and move directly to Palomino or Minca - leaning towards Palomino
May 22 to 25 - Minca/Palomino. On the night of the 25th, return to Santa Marta and fly back to Bogota.
May 26th - Connection to CDMX at 2:30 PM. Overnight in CDMX with a flight back to Toronto at 5PM.
Substitutions:
To be honest I find myself wondering why I'm even including Medellin in this trip as I'm not convinced I'll really enjoy my time there. I'm considering switching it out with some time in Cartagena instead, then a bus to Santa Marta and Palomino. Also was considering dropping that middle day in Bogota for a Sunday evening flight out to Armenia (for an extra day in Zona Cafetera).
