First time solo traveler with a few questions about how to plan a trip
Hi there
I am planning a 3 month trip to Europe, within the Schengen Area; this will be my first time solo traveling
My plan so far is to fly to Iceland, then to Norway, then Denmark for one to weeks each. After that, I was hoping to be able to decide where to go next while I am traveling, kind of on the fly. I would either like to stay in Western Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, etc.), or Eastern Europe (Slavic countries, Balkans).
I have a few questions about planning:
I would like to do as little amount of planning my trip as possible for two reasons; I think I would enjoy not having much of a schedule to follow, or at least have a very loose one. Also, I want to leave (Northeast US) in August at the latest, which doesn’t give me a lot of time to plan.
Is this an okay idea? I would book staying in hostels ahead of time for the countries I know I will be visiting (ex. Iceland, Norway), otherwise would like to figure out what I’m doing as I go.
Is it difficult to travel like this? Is it hard to find plane/train/bus tickets on very short notice? Is it hard to book hostels/couchsurfing on short notice as well?
Any tips or advice I would greatly appreciate! Or any countries/cities/sights you recommend!
Thanks!
