Backpack or suitcase for 2 weeks in Europe (France/Spain/Italy)?
I'm debating whether to take my backpack that used for a 2 month SE Asia trip (48L Osprey pack), or to take a more standard suitcase and daypack combo.
My takeaway from my Asia trip was that there were few situations where the backpack was really necessary. There were a couple of times walking between hostels where it would have been annoying to have a roller bag, but nothing major.
The other factor in my thought process is that I'm planning on taking some more formal wear including a sport coat, and I cringe at the thought of folding it up to fit in a backpack.
I plan on staying mostly in the major cities, and not moving around too much, given I only have two weeks and don't want to spend too much time in transit.
Any thoughts on reasons why a backpack makes sense, or not?
