Advice for CA-IL roadtrip (taking a few days for national parks in Utah)
Hi there! My boyfriend and I are moving back to the midwest from LA and only have 6 days to make the drive. My plan right now is:
Day 1: Drive to Bryce (8ish hours from LA), do the Queen's Garden/Navajo Loop and probably would have time for a short sunset hike (any suggestions?)
Day 2: I originally thought about doing a hike to check out the Grand Staircase and then driving to Capitol Reef to spend the afternoon/night, but now that I'm looking more into it I'm wondering if Grand Staircase is even worth the stop or if we should go straight to Capitol Reef. We don't have a 4x4, so I'm thinking we'd be pretty restricted. If we we skip Grand Staircase, is there anything on the way from Bryce to Capitol Reef that you'd recommend stopping for? In Capitol Reef, I'm debating between the Hickman Bridge or Cassidy Arch, and then doing sunset at Sunset Point. We'll then drive to Moab.
Day 3: Island in the Sky (thinking we'll at visitor center then walk to Shaffer Canyon, and then do Mesa Arch, and then Grand View Point while making the drive around, and then Dead Horse Point for the Dead Horse Point 4-mile loop (for sunset as well)
We're tight on time so want to try to make as best use of it as possible. We did Zion and the Grand Canyon on our drive out here and my boyfriend's been to Arches, so looking to explore these new areas. Thank you so much!
