28/M solo travel in Hungary
Hi again r/solotravel,
Posted here a couple weeks ago about a trip I’m taking solo in New York in May and the responses were amazing, so I’ve decided to book another last minute trip but this time to Hungary.
Dates: Thursday 5th April until Monday 9th April
Locations: Budapest 5-6 April. The rest is open.
I plan to hire a car and can pick up something small for £60 so I’m looking at recommendations for different towns/villages to go and visit. I’ve got an AirBnb in Budapest for the Thursday night, but the rest is entirely open. I’d like to travel back down to Lake Balaton but I’ve only done the east side so looking to take a long road trip around the area entirely.
It’s worth noting I’m part Hungarian and have Hungarian family, of which most are now based in the UK. I speak very little Hungarian but looking to learn more and to explore the sides of Hungary from my family, that don’t include just staying in Budapest. I’ve hired a car and driven in Hungary before so this isn’t all new for me :) I’ve done Budapest quite extensively, I’ve also visited Tihany, Zamardi, Siofok and the surrounding areas. I’d like to go to Balatonfured.
Any recommendations for things to do during those dates in Budapest and in Hungary in general would be amazing. I’d love to plan my road trip around different events that may be happening across the country :)
