I'm advising some friends from abroad taking their first Americans road trip. They're pretty much a blank slate so the interests etc. part doesn't matter that much as long it's a good trip.

Would you guys suggest a West Coast trip (1500 miles):

  • SLC to SF (2 nights in SF)

  • Highway 1 (Big Sur) to LA (1 night on the road)

  • LA (4 nights)

  • Yosemite/Sequia/Death Valley (any one) national park (2 nights)

  • Las Vegas (2 nights)

  • Fly from Las Vegas to Chicago

Or a Middle America trip:

  • SLC to Yellowstone

  • You guys tell? (would be nice if ends in Chicago, hence avoiding flights, but not necessary)

I haven't really been to Middle America much myself so idk what to suggest about that.
