Well, I guess I’m taking my first solo trip!
So myself and 2 friends had a trip planned to Budapest, Vienna, and Prague. Unfortunately they are coworkers and both of them were just laid off, so the trip is no longer financially possible for them. It sucks, but I understand.
Our flights were a grand and nonrefundable. I was prepared to call this a wash and move on, even though I was very disappointed because this is my second trip to Europe that has fallen through.
One of my friends kept urging me to still go, but I thought that was crazy. I’ve never been out of the states (except to Cancun), only speak English, and I couldn’t imagine spending two weeks by myself off in Europe. She convinced me to browse this subreddit a little and honestly I am so happy I did. You guys convinced me to keep my trip and just go solo!
My family is horrified and convinced that I’ll be ‘taken’ like that Liam Neeson movie and have been shouting and begging for me not to go alone. I’m honestly absolutely terrified, have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m so excited too! I know this probably sounds silly to you seasoned solo travelers but I’m just so giddy now and cannot wait to explore these cities on my own time, doing whatever I want and hopefully meeting other travelers from around the world.
Just wanted to share and thank you guys!
