I just found out I scored a position as a visiting scholar through my university here in the US-- myself and four others are going to be traveling to Russia for two weeks to study the human figure in Russian art and iconography! I'm super pumped.

The program is pretty rigorous, but all evenings and weekends are free for me-- I have absolutely no idea what to do! I have a week in each city, and I'd imagine we'd be spending most of our time in an academic setting (at universities, museums, historical sites, etc). I'm looking for suggestions on fun things to do-- clubs, bars, shops, restaurants, pretty much anything off the beaten path.

Side note: this trip is going to be during both the World Cup and St. Petersburg's White Nights festival!
