Solo Traveling in Scotland (for Scotch)
Curious if any of ya'll have experience with doing Scotland as a solo traveler, with the intent of it mostly being for drinking scotch. In particular I'm trying to figure out transit without driving drunk. Renting a car seems to be the default suggestion any time the topic of transit in Scotland comes up (outside of Glasgow and Edinburgh), but since I'm on my own with no DD that would imply I can't actually drink. I know spitting is common in wine tastings but I've read nothing about it in regards to Scotch, and it's not nearly as fun.
There's apparently a bus on Islay but it requires you build your itinerary around the schedule.
It looks like there are taxi services, or even 'tour' services where someone will drive you around all day, but those seem fairly expensive.
Anyone have any experience working around any of those solutions, or maybe one I'm missing?
