Considering spending a week (6-7 days) just to decompress in Dublin and surrounding areas in April. I've traveled alone a lot in Asia, but have never been to Europe so I am not sure what to expect. Anything I should know from those who have been? I've heard there is beautiful countryside and lots of hospitable people. And beer.

Details:

  • I've never visited.

  • I already found cheap airfare, I'm considering hostels. Hoping to keep the trip cheap, any tips?

  • I'm not a wild drinker or partier, but I can appreciate a beer / coffee / etc. I want to meet locals, but obviously my personal safety is a priority.

  • I have to drive a ton normally, so I want to avoid renting a car if possible. (I know that's a fun way to see Ireland on a longer timeline).

  • I mainly want to soak up the local culture, food, perspectives, etc. Get a brain / perspective refresh.

  • I don't want to feel logistically rushed from place to place, but I'm open to doing some day trips :)
