I want to do an NYC trip for my bday. Because it’s my first time in NYC, I want to make it a longer stay (5 nights). My friends don’t have jobs that give them vacation days so none are willing to do the 5 nights. So I’m considering going alone and they can join me for the weekend of they can manage it.

As i’m an only child from an over protective family, everyone is extremely concerned and they’re starting to make me worried.

Will I, as a single, black woman, be okay on my own in NYC?

For some context, I’m canadian and feel pretty comfortable traveling alone and exploring toronto by myself. I’ve done it multiple times. I don’t have much international travel experience. I have only done one other trip ever and that was two years ago to Jamaica.
