Itinerary Sanity Check
hey everyone, im planning on going on a trip with a friend to SEA this June, but am going to add a solo-trip before meeting up with him. My current itinerary has me flying in to Hong Kong and out of Singapore (7 weeks later). If people could please give me a sanity check of my proposed itinerary thus far:
- fly into Hong Kong, spend 3 days
- fly to South Korea, spend 1.5 weeks
- meet up with friend
- fly to Hanoi, work our way down to Ho Chi Minh (2 weeks)
- fly into Siem Reap (3 days -- Angkor Wat, floating markets)
- fly into Bangkok (3 days -- city, Ayutthaya)
- fly into Surat Thani (3 days -- Khao Sok, Koh Samui)
- fly into Penang (2 days -- mainly looking at food, Georgetown)
- fly into Kuala Lumpur (3 days -- Batu Caves, Teman Negara(??))
- fly into Singapore (2 days -- city food/sightseeing, Gardens by the Bay)
I understand that this will be an overview of the region and I definitely would stay longer if I had more time. I have traveled with this friend before and we are okay moving around a lot, but even so I'm wondering if this itinerary is doable? Mainly thinking about :
-
Is there another destination that would be more convenient for me to go after Hong Kong, before Hanoi? Mainly heavily considering South Korea because this would be my first solo-trip and I'm thinking I'd be more comfortable since South Korea has more English than other countries I was considering in SEA (mainly Laos).

Possibly cutting out Penang and putting more days in Thailand. Also other suggestions about things to do in Bangkok/Kuala Lumpur would be great!
