In Buenos Aires for work in October, looking to stay on after that
Hello,
I will be in Buenos Aires for work in October (about 12 days) and I'm looking to stay on for a while after that and explore some of Argentina. I will probably have the time to see much of Buenos Aires during the work period so I don't need to stay there any longer afterwards. These are the places I would most like to see, in no particular order :
-
Aconcagua National Park
-
San Carlos de Bariloche and surrounding region
-
El Chalten, Fitz Roy
-
El Calafate including Perito Moreno glacier and Torres del Paine
-
Possibly Tierra del Fuego
Nothing too out of the ordinary....
How much time do you think would be needed to be able to see all of these places without rushing too much ? Would 14 days be enough without Tierra del Fuego ? The most I can take off is 18 days but then maybe going over budget might come into play.
At the moment my plan seems quite inefficient :
Fly into Mendoza
Rent a car for a day or two, including going to Aconcagua
Fly or bus into San Carlos de Bariloche
Rent a car in Bariloche for a few days
Fly into El Calafate
Rent a car for a few days
Fly back to Buenos Aires or Ushuaïa
Any ideas on making this more efficient ? Maybe the other way around ? Driving from one to the other ? I'm not too afraid of driving some of it if i really have to.
Budget wise, I prefer sleeping in a "proper" hotel room and renting a car to get around, all in I would like to stay under 3500$ for the part after Buenos Aires.
Is any of this feasible ? This would be my first time making a trip like this, until now it's only really been city breaks around Europe.
Thanks !
