First solo trip: London or Bangkok, Thailand?
Hey all,
I am a young (24) year old woman who has never traveled outside of the US, let alone traveled alone anywhere on vacation (I add all of those details in case it influences your opinion here).
I want to book a summer trip, and I am deciding between London and Bangkok. My heart says Thailand..it's beautiful, I love the food, I hear it's really safe and friendly, and the thought of exploring that atmosphere is really exciting. But I am nervous because there is nothing landmarkish drawing me there (no Big Ben, for example) so I don't know what I would do there for 4-5 days? I could do research, of course, but I am hesitant to start to plan because of my biggest worry, which is that I don't speak the language. It makes me nervous to think that for my first big trip, I would be in a place with no one I know, with no common language. Has anyone dealt with this?
My other option is London, as I said. I know a lot about British history, I love the British monarchy, have wanted to see where Henry Tudor is buried, etc. so there is a draw, and my time would be fully occupied there. But it doesn't make my heart beat with excitement like Thailand...but my brain says that is the smart choice.
Any thoughts would greatly help!
