Coming back from long-term (several months+) travel: What were things you had to relearn/ readjust to?
For me it was silly things, like:
-
sitting at a table to eat (vs. sitting on the ground)
-
eating with utensils (vs. with my hand)
-
wearing tight/ more revealing clothes
-
wearing clothes other than the one outfit I wore for months
-
not being on edge all the time, relaxing
-
closed shoes
-
hot water
-
mirrors
-
brushing my teeth with tap water
-
not bargaining prices
Everything seemed cleaner and brighter than when I left them. I never appreciated crisp apples more. Roads seemed awfully empty. I felt dumb because I was only gone three months, yet it took me a few weeks for things to feel ‘normal’ again.
