Thailand Visa Question (Staying 50 Days but plan on exploring SEA)
I’ve booked a 7 week trip to Southeast Asia flying in and out of Bangkok. I am a US citizen, and I understand that I basically have two options in terms of visas, a 30 day on arrival tourist visa or a 60 day multiple entry tourist visa.
I plan on staying in Thailand for 2 weeks, heading down to Malaysia and Singapore by land, most likely fly to Chiang Mai and stay for less than a week, and then from there head to Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, before returning to Bangkok by land a little under a week before my flight home.
Basically, entrance by flight to Thailand, exit, entrance by flight, exit, and entrance by land, totaling 3 entrances into the country over 7 weeks.
I’m trying to figure out whether or not I need to get the 60 day multiple entrance visa or if I can just get on arrival single visas the entire time (3 total). I’m concerned with being allowed into the country the first time because I bought round trip and my return flight is past the 30 days allowed, which makes me think that I need the 60 day tourist visa even though I plan on leaving Thailand throughout my trip.
If anyone has any advice or has been through this before please let me know! I plan on going to the Thai Embassy in Chicago but would like to hear other people’s experiences with similar situations.
(Also I know my countries to go to is a little ambitious but I’m still fleshing out the fine details and want to stay flexible so that’s why I listed all possibles)
