Due to flaky friends, I’ve decided to solo travel Cape Town! I’ve been dreaming of South Africa for years and I’ll be in country for 15 days next month. I’ve traveled Europe solo before and always happened to stay at very social hostels and made plenty of friends to explore with. I’m not sure why, but I’m getting a little worried about finding as sociable places this time. Anyone have good hostel recommendations with a focus on that sociable/common areas/friendly bar environment?

 

My priority is Cape Town, and there’s so much to do that I’m sure I would be entertained, but I imagine some of the 15 days could be well spent somewhere else too. Originally, I had planned half the time to be in Namibia, but I don’t want to solo that. I’m flying in and out of Johannesburg so how many days would you recommend spending there? Also, same questions about especially friendly hostels there.

I have a pretty great list of things to do, but I’d love your insider/uncommon tips too!
