Planning a solo backpacking trip for the first time (Northeast USA / A.T.)
I'll keep it as short as I can. I'm a 26yr old male who is planning on taking a week off vacation from my desk job to challenge myself & solo hike / backpack in early June around the Appalachian trail area. I've been researching for weeks on the preparations I need to make, the essentials, tips, & advice, but just stumbled across this subreddit and wanted to ask the pros who have been there already. One thing I haven't looked too deeply into yet, is a start point. I currently live in northern Ohio and will be driving to a destination I have not decided yet (looking for recommendations), leaving the car behind for awhile, and hitting the land. I don't want to travel in a car past 7 hours to get to my start point, so if someone can recommend something, that'd be awesome. My only goal is two full nights as this is my first time doing something like this (have only gone day-hiking with friends in my past). Willing to answer any questions if anyone has any. Thanks all!
