My Holiday plans fell apart; please give me suggestions for a European holiday from UK in May
Long story short, I was really excited to have booked my first solo trip for my birthday in May when I was informed after paying the initial the regional flight supplement was ridiculous times (I was losing the first day of my holiday where the ice breaker event was held) and way too expensive (£151 extra on top of £771.50).
As a result of this I now have 10 days booked off from work (May 20th - May 29th), and insurance for anywhere in Europe, with nowhere to go. I'd love any suggestions people have for places I could go and things to do. I don't have a strict budget per se but I don't want to be spending huge amounts on accommodation.
I'm F 30, ideally want to fly from Newcastle airport (I can get to others but would need to factor in trains/hotels) and I like food and drink, nature, architecture, and history. I wanna do touristy things, but also go to more obscure places, y'know, observe local festivals, shop at markets that kind of thing. I'm not looking for an all-inclusive sunbathe all day drink all night kind of holiday, I want to really see the country/countries I visit.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated! :)
