I'm going on a four month solo road trip around the US in my compact car
Hey all! I'm a 22 year old female getting ready to head out on my first solo trip ever. I've been on a couple longer trips before canoeing in Canada (one month and two months) and have traveled a lot with my family but this will be my first time hitting the road alone. I drive a Hyundai Accent so I'll be practicing up on my Tetris skills getting ready to pack the car ;)
I'm leaving from Minnesota April 24th, and will be returning August 14th. I made this map to start to get a general idea of how to hit the places I want to go. The main problem I'm having is that I'm going to a music festival halfway through. I'll be going to Electric Forest in Rothbury, Michigan from June 21st - July 1st. Right now on the map that is showing as the end point but in reality I need to figure out how best to loop up to Michigan and then jump back onto the route.
Along the way I'm hoping to see lots of national parks, local festivals and fairs, hiking trails, coffee shops, used book stores, local cuisine, roadside attractions, and anything else that catches my eye. I'm planning on finding as many free places to park/ camp as possible while occasionally staying in hostels or hotels.
I have so many things I'm still figuring out at this point I'm not going to dump a bunch of questions on you all but I'm getting excited and wanted to share my beginning plans. If anyone has any general advice for me or suggestions on places I should go, I would love to hear it!
