Fall vs. Winter for Vietnam + How Easy To Change Plans?
So doing solo travel in Vietnam this year seems pretty settled for me right now, but I had a couple quick questions. Thanks in advance.
1) The best time for me to swing going would be either mid-September or late November/early December. Is there a preferable time? I've checked a few places but while they agree on monsoon seasons, they also give conflicting advice. (i.e. Halong Bay is either too misty to be worth it or absolutely perfect depending on the website.) For what it's worth, I care more about the North and Central parts as my primary hub plans are currently: Hanoi, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh, Hue, Hoi An and Saigon. Also, clear skies for at least part of the day is more important to me than warm weather or having to deal with rainfalls every evening, and I don't care about beaches that much.
2) How easy would it be to alter my itinerary at the last minute? For example, if I go the November/December route and unfortunately Hoi An is dealing with some bad flooding, how likely can I get a flight from Hue to Phu Quoc or Saigon or something the day before and find a reasonable place to stay?
