Hey guys- Ok I have 2 options at this point. I'm meeting my kid and aunt in LA for the the weekend after Memorial day. I can either do my California travel in May and go home after LA, OR do all my traveling in June. So my plan is to drive up the coast and stop along the way until I get to San Fran, then turn east and head back to the Yosemite area and camp/hike there for a week. I've never been to CA, and so I'm worried about the weather in May, especially along the coast in the Northern area. May would be much less crowded, but I'm in the middle of my first Iowa winter and I'm SO tired of cold. So May or June? any thoughts?

Also I'm trying to keep my lodging budget as small as possible, and one of my big goals for the trip is to be less reliant on air bnb and more self-sufficient. Advice for a newbie on solo camping outside of state/natl parks is really appreciated.
