My first authentic travel experience
Just wanted to thank this sub for helping me pull the trigger on my first solo trip. I flew to Bangkok a couple weeks ago and met a cool guy in Chiang Mai who had the same idea as me of buying motorbikes in Vietnam and riding end to end. Today was day three after buying bikes in Hanoi and we stopped in this little hotel in the middle of nowhere because it was getting dark. We walked to a restaurant next door to get food and there was a bunch of locals having hot pot and drinking. They motioned us over and pulled chairs up for us. We spent the night drinking rice wine and vodka and eating great food while trying to use google translate to talk and having some great laughs. What an amazing experience. I’m kind of speech that that just happened. Plus I’m definitely making a friend for life with this buddy I’ve been riding with. Solo travel has been so incredible and easy for meeting people. Anyways I’m pretty drunk and just wanted to thank this sub for motivating me to get out into the world and get out of my shell.
