I will be road tripping to Washington, then to Anchorage from Virginia, or Connecticut in February. Will I find it difficult to go west at this time of the year with all the potential snow?
I am in Virginia and will be moving to Anchorage via the ferry in Washington State. Before I go I wanted to visit my family in Connecticut for a few days then drive out to Bellingham, Washington for the Ferry. That drive would look like this but comparing that to the current snow cover map it looks like most of the route will be difficult to manage.
Alternatively I can exaggerate my route to stay more south for longer missing out on going back to CT. That route would look like this.
I will be making this drive mid February so I need to know what to expect.
For the curious, here is my drive after the ferry. Haines to Anchorage I will definitely be in the snow and ice here but I have a choice of driving through Canada as well and I opted for the ferry to stay out of the snow and ice for as long as possible, especially when some of the temperatures in Canada can get as low as -40 or less.
My aim is to make a cross country trip in 6 days. and that seems doable as long as the roads are clear no matter which route I take as long as there is no snow.
