Road trip from San Francisco, CA to Knoxville, TN. Please review and tell me what you think!
This is the route I have currently planned:
Joshua Tree, CA
Sedona, AZ
Santa Fe, NM (via Grand Canyon)
Austin, TX
New Orleans, LA
Knoxville, TN
Duration: 1 1/2 Weeks
When: End of April
2 Adults.
Opinions on what to see/where to eat/what to do? I believe there is a natural spring in Santa Rosa on the way down to TX I'd like to check out.
Alternative route #1: Through the center of the US, I have friends in Utah and Kansas. I have been to Nevada and Utah though. I'd like to see Colorado, but not sure if April is the right time frame for Colorado? Could use more input here. And honestly, other than for my friend living in Kansas, I have no desire to go there. Any opinions on that?
Alternative route #2: Going through the top of the US could be another plan, but I have not thought extensively about it and my boyfriend has already taken a train from NYC through the top of the US to the Bay. I would chose Oregon, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, then down to Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee but I'm not sure how long that would take. Any insight and the best sight seeing there?
Thanks!
