Question over Airbnb?
Ok, so essentially I just want to get your guys' opinion/stance on asking hosts for recommendations of things to do etc, and whether or not you have a "plan" when going somewhere.
Basically, I've just got back from staying at my first Airbnb, and after writing a lovely review, saying how kind the host was, etc etc, etc, I saw her review of my stay (only visible once I'd posted mine), and she said that I seemed like a "sweet girl", but "didn't have a plan", and "needed to be spoonfed", and isn't "suited to being a solo traveller".
I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty pissed off, and hurt. Yeah this was my first Airbnb/proper solo trip, but personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for recommendations of things to do from a local perspective?! Surely that's part and parcel of being a host. In addition previous reviews had said she'd been helpful, and in person she seemed absolutely with it, and even did stuff that I didn't ask for - which at the time I thought was lovely and kind but now I think differently.
I did have a general plan, before I left I planned generally what I wanted to do each day, so.... mm. It's not like I asked her every day "what shall I do today?"
So, yeah, has anyone maybe had similar experiences? Was I "wrong" to ask recommendations? Also, apparently I'm not suited to being a solo traveller, and can't think for myself, so I guess maybe me asking you guys for validation or whatever could be seen as that.
I'm also now hesitant/anxious about going anywhere else, in case they're also like she was. The fact she was so nice to my face really gets to me, as does the point about me not being able to do stuff for myself, as it's got a lot to do with my personal history. Would you also be hesitant to book again?
