First time traveling ever! Impulse decision, going solo to south east asia, Any advice?
These past year has been insanely rigorous with school, work and recruit but I wrote my final exam yesterday and managed to secure a career with a good firm which doesn't start for a bit. I've always wanted to travel south east Asia and it's been in the back of my mind for years. Despite this I've I've just never pulled the trigger because of my anxiety and depression. I've been getting some help with that recently and yesterday at 3:00am I went ahead and after staring at the buy ticket icon for a good 15 minutes I decided to click it. My flight is for January 17th and I'll be landing at (BKK) in Thailand. As someone that has never travelled a day in his life before (I'm a 27 year old male), What would you say are the best routes if I want to cover Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. I plan to stay at hostels in all these places, and I have no booked a return flight yet so I'll be very flexible. Couple questions I had were if it will be hard for me to make friends along the way, what are some tips and advices you could give me. Lastly, reading through this subreddit I've noticed some posts on requiring an onward ticket upon entering each country or your entry might be declined. In this instance, will it have to be a plane ticket? Or could I show a bus ticket/ for land crossing. Thanks again everyone !
