Brasil// Choosing between Manaus or Santarem
Hey Everyone,
I would like to ask you for a favor. Could you give me a sort of advice or maybe your own experience :
So I have a 5 weeks solo trip to brasil coming in February. First week I will spend in Rio, last two weeks in Bahia. Middle part of the trip should be in Amazon. And here is the question :
Which destination gives me better options to explore Amazon wonders of nature : Manaus or Santarem ? Both cities I will treat just as a gate away point for trips into natue.
I am considering to include a two or three days cruise on Amazon as well ( rather in a cheap-beer drinking-hammock sleeping boat rather than costly one ).
Maybe I should give you my interests as well : less interested in going to villages and seeing "how people live" because I believe it is not really how they did live - its more for us, the gringos, to take pics and go. Dont fancy that ( but maybe its cool and I am wrong?). I'd rather go somewhere by slow small boat, sleep in the forest and just immerse ( as much as a gringo without explorer ambitions can) in the greenery.
I am doing my research but read mixed opinions, and to be honest I am quite puzzled. So if any of you would be kind to give me more light on the matter , I d be very grateful.
Thanks a lot.
