Berlin > ??? > Budapest for next solo trip?
Hi r/solotravel! You guys were so helpful for my first solo trip in October that I could use your advice on planning my next trip. For context, I’m 24/F and I’m based in NYC.
I plan on spending 10 days solo traveling around mid-April, and I’m trying to book flights as soon as possible. My current plan is to fly into Berlin, spend some time in Budapest, and then end up in London so I can work out of my company’s London office for a few days and fly out of there. I was planning on taking 10 days for the actual vacation part of my trip and then an additional 3-4 days working in London.
I’d like to add a third city to my itinerary, and I was thinking I’d go somewhere for 1-2 days to break up the trip from Berlin to Budapest so I could take trains instead of flying. I’m currently torn between either Krakow, Prague, or Bratislava. Another option is to fly somewhere closer to London on my way back from Budapest, and I’d like to either go to Bologna, Parma, Galway, Seville, or Barcelona but I recognize that it’d be more time-consuming since they’re not as “on the way” and I may want to save them for another trip.
My priorities are finding somewhere that has a mix of cultural/educational richness, access to beautiful outdoor stuff, friendly locals, and good parties without being a Frat Boy Spring Break Destination - I’ll definitely try clubbing in Berlin and I like to get a lil’ saucy at night but in general I don’t want my whole trip to center around getting sloshed. So here are my main questions:

Am I missing any awesome cities that are between/near Berlin or Budapest? I’ve looked into Vienna and Salzburg but read mixed things.

Do you prefer Krakow, Prague, or Bratislava? What are some of the pros and cons?

Is it worth taking the last leg of the trip to explore another city in Western Europe?

Am I being too ambitious adding in another city at all considering my time constraints?

Hostel recs in Berlin, Budapest, and whatever other cities you recommend?
