An 18 year old in New England? Good base, things to do?
I'm from the UK and hoping to travel to New England in March. I've found flights to Boston from London for £275 return (cheaper than other cities). Could anyone with experience in the area tell me how long you think I ought to go/whether there would be enough to do for someone with no real purpose there? I've just spent 2 weeks in Berlin and I adored just walking around and exploring the different neighbourhoods so I wouldn't mind replicating that. Do you also think it's a good base to explore NE cheaply? I'd like to visit places like Burlington VT and Providence RI. Also, do you think that not being legal to drink would be an issue at night? I can't really think of what I'd do in the evenign except eat and go back to the hostel.
I've researched the areas of historical interest and I could definitely spend a few days exploring the touristic sights but not sure how things would extend beyond that.
Also - are these areas safe for a girl? I walked around Berlin at midnight just fine and it was incredibly safe but I doubt I'd do the same in the UK. How is Boston in this respect?
If anyone can think of any other cities for a solo traveller in the north east NA suggestions would be great. I'd love to go to Montreal but it's too expensive from my country.
