What do host families do with you?
I'm going to Argentina next month for a volunteer program.
I was just wondering if anyone can share experiences with host families. I'm grateful for these guys letting me in their homes for 5 weeks, however I'm a bit of an introvert-- not just in terms of wanting to stay in sometimes, more so in wanting to explore the city by myself. Or simply would rather do so with my other fellow travellers who are also scattered around [the city].
It'll take time for me to get used to the host family, but in that time, and maybe even after, again, I'd just like some me time. I'm just a bit uncomfortable in being somewhat "tethered" to them, as they are my hosts and might feel obligated to show me around-- which I absolutely will accept, just not all the time.
I know they also have lives of their own. And frankly, I would hope that besides my presence, I don't intrude on their usual daily activities... which is to my benefit/hopes, really. So yeah, if anyone could share their experiences or perspectives, I'd very much appreciate it.
