[Purchase advise]: Osprey Farpoint 40L vs. 55L vs. hiking backpack
Hi everyone!
Got my first solo trip to Thailand coming up in 3 short weeks and I'm hoping to take advantage of any possible Black Friday offers to save on a new backpack.
I've had my eye on the Osprey Farpoint 40L - and using the ZPacks packing cubes with it. I was looking at the 55L too before, but thought I could do fine with the 40L and just buy a drawstring bag that packs into a small tiny pouch.
However, I was talking with a friend recently who recommended that, since I don't have a hiking backpack and love hiking, I should just get a hiking backpack and use that for my travels as well. His reasoning was that it's not a good idea to use a travel backpack as a hiking backpack, but a hiking backpack can easily be used for travel as well.
Given how much the Farpoint series costs, I figured I'd reach out to all of you and see if any of you have any recomendations for backpacks that meet the following criteria:
1) Must be able to carry it on the aircraft
2) Budget: $200
3) Ideally, I'd like to have one that opens "suitcase style" which is what attracted me to the Farpoint series.
4) If it works for hiking as well, then that is a huge bonus.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!!
